So for those of you who did not know, I have two toddlers. Noah who is 3 years old almost 4 in September and Lydia who turned 2 in January. Obviously having toddlers isn’t always easy and smooth. Noah is a like they say a “threenager” and Lydia well she’s a girl and very dramatic. I love being a stay at home mom but lets just say I do have my days where I need to unwind. Today I am sharing my 6 ways to unwind after a stressful and long day.
-
Shower/Bath
This one is pretty obvious if my kids have been extra crazy that day, I’ll put them to bed and immediately hit the shower put some music on and clear my mind. Every mother out there needs some time alone even if it’s a couple of minutes in the shower.
-
Eat a Snack
All of you mommy’s know that having kids you can’t have the guilty pleasure “snack” in front of your kids because they’ll just eat it. So saving it until they’re in bed is the key. For me my guilty pleasure lately is cookies and milk or I’ve even been hooked to Hot Cheetos. I know not the healthiest choice. 😦
-
Make a list
On those stressful days I have most likely not done what I had wanted to do that day like clean or wash clothes for example. So I like to make a list of what I need to do the next day and think about how I could make the next day better.
-
Clean Kitchen
I know this may be a bit weird but, for me it works. Most likely my kitchen is a mess after a stressful day and I personally hate seeing a dirty kitchen with dirty dishes in the sink. So a clean kitchen=less stress.
-
Pick a Show
Then, I like to lay on the sofa with my husband and pick a show to watch. Lately we’ve been into the office and that 70’s show. We’ve watched all the seasons for each show already but that’s ok we love re-watching shows that we love like those. They never get old 🙂
-
Prayer
Before going to bed I especially have to say a special prayer after a hard day. It helps me a lot to express myself to God and tell him how I feel and thank him for getting me through the day even if it was a bit harder than others.
Every mommy needs some time to herself even if it’s just for a couple of minutes. Find your favorite way to unwind after a stressful day whether its taking a bath, making lists, saying a prayer or cleaning your kitchen. Haha
Thank you for taking the time to read my favorite ways to unwind. Hope they help you find your favorite ways.
Having clear kitchen sink really make a huge difference how my day goes. I always try to keep my kitchen space cleared from clutter.

These are great suggestions! I seriously cannot de-stress unless I have a clean kitchen. How strange that I works out that way!

I clear the kitchen too to unwind, so you are not alone there. I often wish i can watch my favorite shows in peace.

I do many of the same things to unwind. Make some lists to clear my head, a nice warm shower and then my husband and I are also rewatching The Office 🙂

I do all of this things except for the prayer. But most of all I like cleaning when I am stressed and for some reason it really works.

Waking up to a clean kitchen is definitely a great way to start the day…and I can’t go to bed without a night snack these days!

Braindumping in my planner keeps me insane. I don’t have kids but I service ALL of the students in my school and they are actual teenagers. One comment can throw you off for the rest of the day but at least my Day Designer will always keep me in check.
